Teluk Kampi Hiking Trip!

What will you do during your short holidays or weekend? I think probably I will get the answers from some of you like sleeping, eating, watching dramas or may be mush rooming at home and etc. Actually what I mean what kind of physical or outdoor activities you prefer to?

During the Labour Day this year, I spent my time widely with my lover and friends for the hiking to Teluk Kampi, Penang National Park. Teluk Kampi has a longest nice stretch of beach around a gently curving bay. You will have 2 options to get there. First option is you can hire a boat with the price RM100 for 10 person per boat. So please make sure you get exactly 10 friends in order to get the cheapest price. The second option will be hiking around 5 km for 2 hours to the beach. You will have trek to Pantai Kerachut and continue for another 1.5 km hiking through a very steep, narrow and not very well marked pathway in the rainforest. I can say that this section is the hardest part among all the National Parks hiking trails.

We have total of 17 people joined for this hiking trip, from the age range 16 to 60 years old.  At the middle of hiking, we are actually separate into 3 groups, probably due to the different people with different hiking speed. Tell you what, there was a heavy raining while we were halfway hiking to Teluk Kampi. My group just have 3 person which are Mabelle, Stevie and I. We are the only group who stopped around 15 min in the Pantai Kerachut to hide from the heavy rain before we started the hiking to Teluk Kampi. But we found that it didn't help much as it continued raining even we were in the middle of hiking to Teluk Kampi.

Seriously the pathway is very steep and extremely slippery when it is wet, making us very slow going. I think there is the reason why Teluk Kampi Beach is rarely visited by other tourists unless they come with the boat.   My advice is if you attempt to try it out, please come with a proper gear on with a pair of shoes with good grip. Don't forget to register your name at the counter of the Penang National Park before hike, just in case you lost or injured in the jungle and the rangers are able to keep track on you.  And one more thing which is very important is don't forget to bring along your foods and drinks as there are no restaurant or hawkers stalls selling any foods or else be ready to get starved after a long way hiking.

#1- I was all dressed up with my new nike shoes.
#2- This was our first hiking trip to Teluk Kampi and both of us are excited.

#3- You will probably see the ants moving around in the jungle.
#4- The pathway to Teluk Kampi.

#5- Don't get cheated by my relax mode. The pathway is actually so steep and I just realised that my stamina is not bad. *Self-obsessing*

#6- Finally we made it.

#7- It was raining heavily.

#8- Gathered to have our lunch together.
#9- There are few boats that stopped at Teluk Kampi.

#10- Yes. You're right. We were taking boat as our way back.

#11- Heading back after the hiking.

Overall we had a healthy and happy Hiking Labor day together although it was a hard and tiring hiking trip. At least all of us never give up on the halfway and done a good job to complete the whole journey even it was raining and we were get all wet. Mission completed and well done to all of the team members.

With Love,
Beverly
