PenangStarwalk 2012 took place on 17th Sept 2012 (Monday) which was the replacement of
public holiday for
Malaysia Day that falls on 16th Sept 2012 (Sunday). This
Penang's Premier sporting event was jointly organised by Star Publications (M)
Sdn. Bhd. and Penang Amateur Athletic Association. The route of Penang Starwalk
covered the major heritage site which included
Fort Cornwallis, City Hall,
Kapitan Kiling Mosque and Sri Mariamman Temple. It created the opportunity for
the participants to have a better look at the heritage buildings and appreciate
the culture and art of the state.
Penang
Starwalk 2012 was flagged off in front of Birch House, Penang Times Square at
6:30am for the all groups of competition walkers while all walkers for
non-competition category started the walk at 7:00am. All the walkers who
successfully completed the route either Competition (10km) or Non-competition
(6km) within the time limit of 2 hours were entitled with the Participation
Certificates and Lucky draw coupon. Of course all walkers must finish the race
with 2 wristbands which the participants received it at the respective
Reporting center and the second coloured wristband was collected at the
check-point along the route.

#2-The 35th edition of Penang Starwalk 2012 recorded the biggest number of participants ever with a total of 21,672 registered walkers.
